Masters of Blood and Bone | Craig Saunders

Holland's a man who's good with death. Good at death.

When his daughter goes missing, he finds himself pitted in a deadly game against the Gods themselves. Powerful enemies surround him—a changeling, a mage, and a god who wants to destroy the world.

With silver bullets in his gun and death on his mind, Holland aims to set things right...or die trying.

For the captors of Holland’s daughter, death is not only on it’s way, it’s in their very possession as Holland's daughter isn't just a girl...in fact, she's barely mortal at all...

She's Ankou, Death's daughter, and she's not an easy mark.

The battleground has been set, the world’s at stake, and all Hell is about the break loose.

Masters of Blood and Bone is an epic clash between good and evil, life versus death, Gods against mortals, a timeless story of power and corruption and one man’s pursuit to protect what he loves at any cost.

Olivia | R. Lee Smith

Publisher: A Red Hot Romance Erotic Novel
Date Published: February 2, 2011
Pages: 1032
ASIN: B004LZ557I

Adult, horror, dark fantasy, paranormal romance
Content Advisory: This book is intended for mature audiences.

Olivia Blake has been taken. Out of the bed where she slept. Out of the nice, safe apartment filled with all her ordinary things. Out of the quiet, Northwestern town where no monsters could possibly exist. Out of her whole human world.

But the worst thing about monsters is, they don’t always want to kill you. Sometimes, they want to keep you.

OLIVIA is the uncut, uncensored edition of R. Lee Smith’s first full-length erotic horror novel—the tale of one young woman’s descent into a dark, savage new world she must not only embrace, but ultimately fight to save.

Olivia is kidnapped from her home by odd bat like creatures. Taken into the mountains with other woman. She finds herself trying to come to terms of her new life and different culture. As the woman adjust to the strange environment, they then need to come to terms with being breeders.

This was a long book and definitely needed some editing. The first half was captivating, but it started going into a bunch of other directions and some scenes were unnecessary. It turned out to be a lot longer than needed. The final third of the story ended up going into a different direction than I anticipated. I expected humans to somehow find a cure for the deformation and abortions of the Gullan babies. Whether it be by breeding with humans or using science to do so. The whole Great spirit drama didn't sit well with me. I would have been fine if the Great spirit helped Olivia, but when she went forward on the journey of killing the god, it went downhill for me.

Smith made the lead female all powerful once again. The tribe was in awe of Olivia because she adapted well, she thought more logically than emotionally at critical times. She also began having magical abilities and healing. The tribe had its own culture and beliefs that put Olivia on a pedestal and it also helped she was mated to the tribe leader. The characters were really interesting and developed well as the story went on. There were characters you loved and absolutely hated. When you start putting yourself into the story and figuring out how you would react in such a situation, you know its good.
