Paranormal romance

But, it doesn't matter to me because I've spent my existence looking for the love of my life, my angel. And, there is nothing that Shane Maxton can do to change that.
This is book one of the Mad World series, I read this book in one sitting and I enjoyed it. I don't know how or why, but I thought this was a contemporary romance novel. It was a love story, but with a twist. Spoiler:Grace's soul is transferred to different bodies after each death and this has been going on for centuries. The elaboration of the supernatural facet was perfect. It was slow and you were given small bits of information at a time that got me completely immersed in the story.
Grace was a mystery. She had lost the last of her family and has come went to her best friend Lea to recuperate. The story is written in her point of view. Grace is not only beautiful, she is independent, strong, sassy and quick witted. However, Grace does not have short flings with anyone. She has been waiting literally centuries for her special man. This is frustratingly stated multiple times.
Shane Maxton, is a pompous hot guy in a band. He has sex appeal, a troubled past and of course a womanizer. Typical male protagonist in the urban fantasy genre. Nothing about him truly stands out. Oh but he does have depth to him since he quotes Shakespeare (roll eyes).
Lea's character was quite frivolous. There was no depth to her when there definitely should have been. After all it was Lea who grew up with Grace and knew about her past. Her support should have shown through in the writing and it just fell short.
There was a lot of banter and sexual tension and no, there were no sex scenes. Grace was mesmerized by Shane with their first meeting and vice versa. The banter was humorous in the beginning but Grace got on my nerves when she kept on reiterating the fact that she would not sleep with Shane. Who are you really trying to convince? It bordered on being rude at times and it was constantly rubbed in his face. She wouldn't go out with Shane but had no qualms about another character Tucker, even when she didn't like him.
I couldn't understand why Grace didn't want to be involved with Shane, even when it had been centuries that someone made her feel such strong emotions. She was going on and on about the void within her. Don't you think someone "immortal" would cling to such emotions then? I understand she was waiting for her guy, but I also feel like when something extraordinary is in your reach, you would do what you can to attain it and safeguard it.
Writing needed some heavy editing! Many oddly constructed phrases, grammar and spelling mistakes. Ending was a little rushed and sadly a cliffhanger. So on to the next. I believe so far there are three books to the series and I hope to get through them all.
